Those Men…
That is a complete gentleman,
That asks you out on
a date, that he has no problem paying for.
That takes you home
but doesn’t ask to come in and gives you a kiss on the cheek,
That is patient
That think’s with his
head “the one on his shoulders”
That calls you the
next day,
That asks for a
second date and cooks for you
That shows you off to
his friends
That plays no games,
doesn’t lead you on, let’s you know what it is
That doesn’t waste
your time
That has no problem
with you bringing him home to your parents
That has no second
thought about bringing you home to his
That your momma loves
and your daddy approves
That wants to build with you
That helps you better yourself
That is your best
friend
That you picture your
life with
That picture lifelong
love with you
That pictures you as
the mother of his kids
That you argue with
and admit when he’s wrong because he’s a man
The one your friends
can’t criticize
That see’s love every
time he looks at you.
That respects you
That protects you
That makes you more
than happy
That you thank God
for
Now that I'm 20 years old I understand what I want in a man. I've seen and heard things about other people's relationships and learned from the mistakes in theirs and in "mines" as well. Hearing about other people's relationship problems make me more aware of what I want to avoid in my future relationships. I know what I want and what I won't settle for. I lost a little bit of faith in men like the one's listed above because of what I see everyday from the boys in this generation. But that's the difference between boys and Men and being a Man. So I'll hold on to the little faith I have left and continue to think: Where are "Those Men ?"
